Preheat the oven: Heat to 475°F (245°C). If you have a pizza stone, place it in the oven to warm.
Otherwise, line baking sheets with parchment paper.
Prep the dough: Let the dough rest at room temperature for 20–30 minutes so it’s easier to shape. Dust your counter with flour or cornmeal.
Divide and shape: Cut the dough into 6–8 equal pieces. Flatten each piece into a small oval, then pinch the bottom to a point and press two small indents at the top to form a heart.
Use your fingers to stretch and smooth the edges.
Alternative method: Roll the dough into a sheet about ¼ inch thick and use a heart-shaped cookie cutter to punch out hearts. Re-roll scraps as needed.
Par-bake (optional but helpful): Brush each heart lightly with olive oil and bake for 3–4 minutes. This keeps the crust from getting soggy once sauced.
Sauce and season: Spread 1–2 tablespoons of pizza sauce on each heart, leaving a small border.
Sprinkle with oregano, garlic powder, and a pinch of salt and pepper.
Add cheese and toppings: Top with mozzarella. Add pepperoni or your favorite toppings. For a cute look, fold pepperoni into little hearts or snip them with kitchen scissors.
Bake: Return the pizzas to the oven for 7–10 minutes, until the crust is golden and the cheese is bubbly with browned spots.
Finish: Let cool for 2–3 minutes.
Drizzle with a little olive oil, add fresh basil or parsley, and serve warm.
Optional flair: Add a sprinkle of red pepper flakes, a stripe of pesto, or a drizzle of hot honey for a sweet-heat finish.
